The freaky weather, deer damage, fear of lime disease, and dwindling membership has resulted in a less than stellar flower show. This is not to say our members weren’t putting out effort. They did! You just can’t show something that has finished blooming or was eaten by a deer or squirrel. Also, some members who dominated the show with their entries in past years have either moved away or passed on. The food was excellent though! Better Luck next year!
To those people who are unaware of the damage a tiny insect can do to the human body I can only say that you should google "Lyme Disease". Some of our members have suffered from Lyme disease. It can affect memory and the immune system among other maladies. Having dug one off of me the previous day I was reluctant to scramble around the plants looking for labels hence several of my entries were not identified. I'm sure others felt the same as they looked for entries to this year's flower show.
I would like to thank our president, Marvin Fisher and his wife, Linda for taking on the extra burden of putting on this year's show. Also, let's not forget all the food brought in by our members for our luncheon. Yum!
